In a Nutshell; Review:An FBI forensic Psychiatrist(Pacino)has his celebration of a serial killer's execution turned upside down,as a copycat or disciple, mimics the murders. Senior Pacino, sporting expensive hair work and extensions, is portrayed as a chick, power magnet.Students and ex flames including hot Witt,Unger, Cairns and Tennant, stand a head taller; and drool over
the unlikely and unbelievable, pistol packing, shrink turned detective.
Styled in real time like T.V.'s 24, with similar soundtrack, the suspension of disbelief gets tested,as Doc Graham commandeers a cab all over town; and has his lesbian assistant(a solid Brenneman)run sophisticated Homeland security like background checks,to satisfy his paranoia. Prof.Graham thinks that the new perp, who mind f's him, could be one of his students.Armed with that tool, and as many screen time, cell telephone call minutes as action, our hero shows unlikely Film cop training, and investigation skills.
"88..." was shelved from U.S. distribution for awhile. In spite of more producers than I could fit on a readable page, the story is complicated, with a choppy structure(post production fixes?) and story. It is an embarrassment to one of America's legendary actors.
