In a Nutshell:British period, costume drama with a twist:Austen becomes the focus and protagonist.Jane(the stunning Hathaway) falls in love with passionate LeFroy(McAvoy:"Last King of Scotland"), while steadfastly maintaining her precocious dream of financial independence through writing.Mom(Walters)and bossy/rich Aunt(Smith) of the spurned, boring suitor, are equally distraught.Sourced partly from recent bio that suggests Austin's casual relationship with the real life Irish lawyer, may have gone further. Good chemistry between McAvoy and Hathaway. Very good alternative to summer action and animation/comedies,for genre fans.Beautifully filmed in Ireland. |
