In a Nutshell:Another visceral and gripping
action/drama, in Mayan Indian dialect with sub titles, from writer/Director Mel Gibson. The son of the chief of a small tribe fights to save his pregnant wife and son, after the tribe is defeated and captured by warriors of the largest, Mayan tribe. Incredible Hi Defin.cinemagraphy(Dean Semler)and make up/costume design. Writ. Dir Gibson's attn to detail keeps us mostly enthralled,through all the gory battles and strange language.Men should appreciate the action; women the scantily clad, muscular natives; their humor, and the poignant scenes of families' torn apart. See it on the big screen; but not for a light Xmas shopping break. |
